JOB DESCRIPTION
Your Role

The People and Engagement team is embarking on a multi-year end-to-end transformation journey to unlock new forms of value for members and providers, through a mix of operating model, process, technology, and people initiatives . The Principal, Change Management Lead will report to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Change Management. In this role you will lead the change strategies/plans for Blue Shield of CA, aligning fundamentally new ways of working across the enterprise. This role will have special emphasis on delivering end-to-end impactful change strategies and plans to achieve desired business and people outcomes.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Lead change strategy for multiple strategic priorities for the enterprise (cross-business integration, functional complexity, substantial / pervasive change).
  • Own overall change capability development for part of the enterprise.
  • Coach/advise leaders at the VP and above level, along with select partners (e.g. HRBPs, communications).
  • Establish standards for People Change Management at Blue Shield of CA, leveraging internal/external practices, contributing to lessons learned and engaging in the broader community of change practitioners.
  • Serve as a change lead for select enterprise-wide priorities with significant strategic impact and complexity
    • Orchestrate integrated, overall change strategies and partner across Blue Shield roles (e.g. HRBPs, Internal Communications, PMO, Readiness Leads) to facilitate organizational change and deliver a seamless client experience
    • Coach / advise leaders at the VP/SVP levels throughout initiatives, while partnering with HRBPs, communications and other teams to grow change capabilities more broadly
    • Amplify and accelerate ability to meet desired business and people outcomes of each priority
    • Foster organizational agility through engagements in across the enterprise to more readily adapt in a continually changing environment
  • Establish standards for Change Management at Blue Shield of CA, leveraging internal/external practices, contributing to lessons learned, developing standard tools and resources, and engaging in the broader community of change practitioners. Advise senior leadership and key partners as needed.


Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires Master’s level degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Mastery of the dynamics and principles of change at the individual, team and organizational levels – may be certified in a variety of change models & methodologies (e.g. Prosci, ACMP, AIM, Kotter, GE).
  • Has led large-scale transformation projects across the entire enterprise (crossfunctional, cross-business) from initiation through sustainment.
  • Deep understanding of Blue Shield of CA's business environment and operating model.
  • Deep knowledge of multiple disciplines related to change (e.g. communications, adult learning, leadership development, org design, design thinking) and flexibility to operate across a variety of changes (operating model, organization design, systems implementations, M&A).
  • Diagnostic skills to break down complex challenges, identify root causes, and structure targeted recommendations
  • Functional breadth to apply knowledge from multiple related disciplines in large-scale change such as communications, learning, leadership development, org design, process improvement and design thinking
  • Experiential breadth of demonstrated experience supporting a variety of changes (operating model, organization design, systems implementations, M&A, etc.)

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 145200.00 to $ 217800.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Due to the current public health emergency in California, Blue Shield employees are almost all working remotely. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
